When I was diagnosed with dyslexia in third grade, I felt like my world had ended. Reading was so difficult for me, and I watched my classmates breeze through books while I struggled with every sentence. My teachers didn't understand why I couldn't keep up, and some of them thought I wasn't trying hard enough. I felt stupid and embarrassed.

Throughout elementary and middle school, I spent hours every night doing homework that took my friends minutes to complete. I had to read passages multiple times to understand them, and writing essays was torture. My parents hired tutors and tried different learning strategies, but nothing seemed to help much. I started to believe that I just wasn't smart enough for school.

In high school, I discovered audiobooks and text-to-speech software, which made learning easier. I also found that I was good at visual learning and hands-on projects. I started to realize that my brain just worked differently, not worse. I learned to advocate for myself and ask for accommodations when I needed them.

Now I see my dyslexia as a challenge I've overcome rather than a disability. It taught me perseverance and creative problem-solving. I've learned that there are many different ways to be intelligent, and traditional academic measures don't define a person's worth or potential. This experience has made me more empathetic toward others who learn differently.

I want to study education in college so I can help other students with learning differences. I believe that with the right support and understanding, every student can succeed. My dyslexia has shaped who I am and given me a unique perspective that I want to share with others.
